I’ve been reading good ole Tommy P for years now. I’ve consumed pretty much everything he’s put out in the past ten years and consider myself a devoted fan. So here’s the thing: I didn’t expect this novel coming from him. Perrotta himself said that when he started writing the novel, he thought it would turn out funnier. That’s an understatement. Granted, it’s not a light subject matter (I won’t spoil it for you), but still.
Surprise aside, it’s an engaging read. And Terry Gross does a great interview with him that’s worth listening to.
Recommended.
