If Patrick Dempsey made marinara sauce, I would buy it
I realized what it was about New York that made it not fun for me to live there. It can all be summed up in one activity: food shopping.
I did most of my grocery shopping at Whole Foods in Union Square. It was close to my apartment, they had the kind of food I wanted and it was on the way home from work. But something as simple as food shopping is not quite as simple in a big city.
Here are some problems I routinely encountered:
A) You can only bring home what you can walk home or can carry onto the bus without a shopping cart.
B) You have to wait in the huge lines that wrap around the store just to pay.
C) The supermarkets are crowded with people at most hours of the day, so you are often awkwardly manuevering yourself down every aisle.
D) Girls stop me in every aisle to ask if I’m Patrick Dempsey from TV’s Grey’s Anatomy.
Here’s how it works in Colorado:
1) Get in car/take bus. Either way it’s about 10 minutes.
2) Shop leisurely in nearly empty store. Check out immediately since there’s no waiting in line.
3) Go home. Enjoy food products.
4) Study mannerisms of Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey in order to convince people I’m him, thus procuring free drinks at bars with cougars.
