Big bag, extra-large dork
Hypothesis: The larger the backpack, the bigger the dork.
Sample: The high schoolers at this bus stop.
Conclusion: Hypothesis seems to be true based on the small sample size.

Tall, lanky kid smoking a cigarette and wearing construction boots: tiny bag on his back, likely used to transport small amounts of marijuana and an iPad filled exclusively with adult movies. Has never finished a book in his life. Not a dork.
Pudgy, male Indian kid eating from an extra-large Pinkberry container: enormous backpack.
Short, jewy looking kid who definitely is in marching band: huge backpack AND gigantic rolling bag AND horrible acne he carries around using his face. Case closed.
Slightly taller jewy adult who was in marching band in high school, but is now desperately trying to look cooler than he did back then: shoulder bag, tripod for video camera, a Premium Thermal hot/cold bag containing food he has to bring to the video shoot. Nice one, self!
Other Conclusion: I may be worse than that kid with the rolling bag.
