What a show. It’s amazing how much beautiful noise and energy can be created by only two people singing, a guitar, a banjo and a stand-up bass (and sometimes a cello). The new stuff they played definitely sounded different, but I have a feeling I’ll like it just as much once I get used to the new sound.
Highlights: “Paranoia in B Major,” during which it felt like the floor was shaking we were jumping so much, “Colorshow,” “I And Love And You” and “If It’s the Beaches,” a song I didn’t know before the show, but is f’ing gorgeous and encompasses everything I like about them.
If you live in NYC, you should get tickets for their Terminal 5 show now. It will sell out. And it will be great.
