This is a visual guide to The Omnivore’s Dilemma. Michael Pollan is interviewed extensively, and you even get to spend time with the crazy/inspiring farmer at Polyface Farms, a major character in the book.
In short: a few multinational companies reap massive profits from centralized food production. As a result, we get our food cheap and fast. Unfortunately, this costs us environmentally and healthwise (hello, person reading this born after the year 2000 who has a 1 in 3 chance of having diabetes).
Worth a watch if you’ve read and enjoyed anything Michael Pollan has written, but especially worth it if you haven’t. Oh, and it’s not going to make you want a hamburger anytime soon. Out on DVD in November.
