Letter to the editor
Its the ramblings of sophisticants like this that have really been getting on my nerves. I’m not going to apologize for America’s problems with waste and obesity. There are a lot of things that go into these problems, some of which I know, some of which I think I know, but all of which should be discussed by people much smarter than me and this guy, sharingtime.
I’m from the midwest. I’m from the places these people live. I’m this guy. I think Buca Di Beppo is a place to get great italian. I think American Gladiators, while flawed, is fucking cool. I love a large, Scooby and Shaggy style sandwich, grinder, hoagie, or submarine sandwich.
So hate me. Hate me and my lifestyle. Hate all the horrible things I’m doing to the world simple by being me.
That’s not gonna stop the flood waters from roaring over your wannabe, hipster, punk “Ain’t I enlightened cause I live in NYC” ass. You too Marco.
The thing is, this isn’t “how the rest of the country lives.” It’s how those people just happen to be living on that day. Not everyone drives a gas guzzler. Not everyone is eating a panini the size of their arm everyday. Stop judging the nation by your own limited view of whatever bullshit mall you happened to be near.
It’s like I got a letter to the editor! Sweet! I was supposed to go to sleep, but this kept me up.
- If I’m a hipster, I suck at being one. My clothes suck, my music tastes
are pedestrianaren’t that cool and I’m not really into coke all that much. - I like sandwiches too. Let’s agree on that.
- Of course people smarter than us should solve America’s problems, but hey, isn’t it fun to talk about? This is fun! Yipee!
- I’m judging our nation by the mall because our nation is one huge fucking mall. Every town looks the same. McDonalds, bank, car dealership, random chain restaurant, church. Wash, rinse, repeat. Is this really not how it is? Did I miss something?
- One in eight drive an SUV as of 2002. Nope, not everybody. But that’s a lot, no?
- I don’t hate you for your lifestyle. It is what it is. I was just trying to make the point that the way YOU live, the way I live, the way AMERICA lives is not sustainable. We’re all fucked.
I promise this is the last post on the subject!
