Sharingtime’s Top 10 Albums of 2009
These are the albums I liked the most in 2009. Many of these will not show up on anyone’s top ten list, but that’s what makes me special. I’m a snowflake!
1. Frightened Rabbit - Midnight Organ Fight
This didn’t come out in 2009, but I listened to what is essentially a breakup album over and over again during a relationship (foreshadowing!) that lasted much of 2009, but for some reason couldn’t listen to it right after it ended. I can listen to it again. It’s still good.
2. Metric - Fantasies
Umm, Emily’s perfect? Great pop songs.
3. Clem Snide - Hungry Bird
I’ve listened to Eef for about ten years now and as long as he keeps writing songs like “Beard of Bees” and “With All My Heart,” I’ll be listening for another ten years.
4. Wilco - Wilco (The Album)
Tweedy can do no wrong.
5. Blitzen Trapper - Furr
Also came out in 2008, also listened to it non-stop in 2009. Great live show too.
6. That album Asher Roth put out
Just kidding.
7. The Thermals - Now We Can See
8. The Avett Brothers - I And Love And You
Even though I was put off initially about how overproduced it sounds, the songs are unimpeachable. It gets better with every listen.
9. Brand New - Daisy
A bunch of noise and screaming from dudes from Long Island. I’m not sure why I enjoy it as much as I do.
10. Monsters of Folk - Monsters of Folk
